lulz. No such thing...but... Massive, Sylnth1 and Z3TA+2 are my workhorse, in every production, synths. I couldn't work without them. A really good synth as well is Arturia MInimoog V, very nice moog emulator, perfect for, well moog sounds, very sought after sound.

But...If you honestly don't care about prices, then get a real Minimoog, or a Prophet, or hell, a Modular Moog. Each one is several thousand dollars though. :|

Are you totally new to producing or just to producing garage music?

EDIT: And what programs/equipment do you already have?

It all comes down to personal preference. I mean, garage is so versatile you can throw in literally any kind of sound with a garage beat.

Personally I use these the most:

VST plugins: Absynth 5, Z3TA+
Hard synths: MicroKORG, Future Retro Revolution

Oh, and if you use Ableton, learn how to use the included Analog synth (it's extremely versatile).

Tru dat
And the same goes to any genres. Tools do matter, but they are just tools. You don't need the Ultimate Future Garage Generator™ VST to write a garage tune.

Honestly doesn't matter what you use. As long as you are comfortable with it.

Donkmatic 5000 is ESSENTIAL though

This.

It doesnt matter which synth you learn.
It matters how well you learn it. ;)

Yeah man any synth will do the trick! :) I actually don't use synths that often though, I use LOTS of samples. That could be an option for you, find sounds you like then start playing with them to make them a bit more unique and your own, hope that was helpful and gave you another option to think about

Yeah, I've heard plenty of styles of garage where the only synth is dat sub. ;)

I've used U-he's Zebra and it's one that I definitely like. Having a so-called "high quality" synth might make it easier, but you can get away with anything really. You should test out different softsynth demos (or hardware if you're so inclined) to see what fits you the best. Because it's not about how you can sound like garage, it's how you can sound like you.

In the words of JFK, "Ask not what your synth can do for you, but ask what can you do with your synth" :D
