Nice idea :)

Is it just tracks which you and the others that run/made the site choose, or can others contribute as well?

Just the authors on the site mate. If we let everyone choose it wouldn't really be the sites top dubs. Plus the list would be huuuuuuge with people wanting involved! haha

Yeah man that makes sense, how about a "Community Top Dubs" ? Where it's exclusively members voting for members tracks? And then the one with the most votes gets to reach the page where the site's Top Dubs are?

So it's like:

Mr.Beeb - xx
Whistla - xx
Y - xx
Z - xx
Community - xx

Feel it would give people a greater incentive to join the forum too, maybe.

I like the idea in theory. But to have something like that every two weeks would be too much. Plus the whole community would have to listen to loads of tracks and pick one blah blah.
There is already forum integration with the facebook page in the regard that if you make a good enough tune and post it here it could be shared with 7k+ people on facebook. Has happened in the past and will in the future!

Yeah that's true I guess :/

Although listening to lots of tracks wouldn't bother me, I can imagine a lot of people posting tracks, and then sodding off without voting leaving about 100 tracks with about 3 voters so that makes sense. Oh well was just an idea :)

yeah that was my point. I listen to hundreds of tracks so i'm generally not picky on who made something, just on the tune. So if people keep posting on here i'll keep listening to what I can!

It's a good idea (and not just cuz I'm this month's pick :P).

I mean curation is a very good idea... there's so much stuff out there these days, you need to have some sort of filter. If everybody would vote or pick something the list would be long and very likely to be not exciting since what would be in it would be already known to the broader public.
You guys are in your part of the scene and discover your things (yes you also miss a few things), but that's what's great about it, it's just this selection that is very human.
Curate away, have this little list of a few tunes. As I always say: Quality over quantity. :)

(lol Bhava, I just noticed we joined the forum on the same exact day, only 30 minutes apart)

Yeah, I feel that I listen to A LOT of music these days, but i know there is still LOADS of stuff out there!

Considered setting up a moderated soundcloud group for this, but i'm scared it will become over-run for just a couple of people to handle! I think that if the tune is good enough eventually I will see it in my dashboard as i think i'm following people who have similar taste. That's the great thing about soundcloud! Even if it's comeone who has just uploaded their first track, if someone i follow faves/comments then there is a chance i'll see it and listen to it myself!

Very true, that's why it's important to only follow a few people who are genuine friends or like-minded producers and djs/music lovers. Instead of following 2000 peeps lol.

The curation thing is why I set up Night Shift Collective, I had a Dubstep group before which was open. It had moderation but no strict rules. Eventually it ended up getting 100+ submission per 1 or 2 weeks and 98% was brostep. It just got overwhelming.

So the night shift group is just for a select few people who can contribute, some think it's harsh.... but curation is what sets it apart, you've got to draw a line somewhere in order to not spread yourself too thin. Otherwise you'll just be all over the place and people won't see what you're about.

I could see you set up some kind of group, just be clear from the start that you're not bullshitting and any spammy people will be blocked right away, only then can you ensure quality.
