swing and shuffle any way i can.. i try to switch up my methods when i make tracks. Sometimes try to pursue triplet grids on a more precise 1-64 scale.. or take on a natural swing by adjusting the shuffle or just draw it out by hand until it fits, which for me, once I've tackled the surrounding elements, can work best.

starting to get into the swingness more and more, dubstep is getting stale to me and I am uninspired to create it.

What size grid are most of you guys working with? 1/16 or 1/32?

I'm on Ableton 8....try to incorporate my ES-1MKII and Microkorg as much as possible, I like hardware, however the swing on the electribe isn't quite cutting it IMO. I am also a little confused on how swing is actually working. If it is at 1/16 swing, what does that mean exactly? How does it affect the 16th notes or 8th notes? Thanks so much for any tips to get me started in the future direction.

the ES will definitely limit your ability to introduce complex swings in a quick manner, I'd get on the midi piano roll and get quantising or note pushing (see above obviously for more detailed instruction.) The sleek and simplified interface of DAWs is the reason that products like this are discontinued, you can't really compete. Sometimes the limitations can produce interesting results however and give rise to other methods, that said.
