ambient stabs

Postby slowpokecity » Sun Mar 04, 2012 10:18 pm

the sounds that both these songs start with that play the melody. can't think of a better name for them. sounds painfully simple but, like most things sound design wise, it seems to elude me. trying to get a sound like this in 3xosc or something basic like that.

i can make a stab-like synth easily just by messing with the release but i can never get them to sound this "full"

cheers

Sounds like plain sine blips.
Or a mallet sound like a vibraphone, but tweaked.

while you're messing with the Release, have your tried turning down the Sustain and shaping the attack/decay portion?

yea could be 808's, could also be sines with some filters on them.. if youre gonna make it with a sine, best thing to do is just play around with it until you get the right sound.. make sure there's no attack on it so you get the kicky sound.
