How many hours a week (avg.) do you spend producing?

Postby ljp » Wed Apr 11, 2012 1:24 pm

Just a general question. I'm curious if anyone has a routine or a pattern? Or if i'm the only one that binges and then has like 4 days off.

I just fit in what I can around work and other commitments. Sometimes more than 16hrs a week. Sometimes alot less. Depending on what else I have going on.

Alot of that time is unproductive fucking about though, haha.

Well it's productive in the sense that I learn stuff, but not in creating product.

Sometimes it's a really good idea to just mess about in your DAW without trying to actually make a tune.Every couple of months I'll take a day to just make patches and then basically only use them for the next few months lol XD

I can sit and mess around with settings for hours. It's worth it to find out even the littlest thing which will increase work flow!

I try and work on tunes/with Ableton in general for at least an hour every other day.
Often I spend a whole evening just producing though. Really depends on other more important commitments.

haha i know that feel, sometimes i wonder how i spend so much time doing nothing on the internet when that time could be spent doing music related shit. if i was like some pro producer maybe things would be different since it's your "job".

Out of interest where abouts do you study? I might be starting a course come September, just curious if you're going somewhere similar.
