Here's a track idea I started a few days ago. It's still in it's very early stages and I figured it would be better to post it up now than later when I become too attached to any of the sequencing or direction of the track. See what feedback you all can provide. Maybe it's crap and should be abandoned.

Hmm, yeah this is pretty cool. Nothing particularly grabs me about it though, bit too progressive for my tastes and no real hook to keep you interested. Worth finishing though I reckon there's potential there.

I appreciate the feedback! I'm curious as to what you mean by progressive. What about the track makes it so? Also, in regards to lacking a hook, do you have any suggestions (even if generalized in nature) on how to add those needed touches?

I think what he means by progressive is the track builds a little bit too slowly. There are some interesting rhythms and sounds in there but it takes so long to move into them it kind of loses your attention ya know? I would maybe add some of those layers earlier and maybe give the beginning a catchier rhythm to "hook" us.Good start though I think it has potential and is definitely worth working on.

Yeah I completely understand what you mean by loosing attention. Listening to it again now I can clearly it is way too drawn out. I could easily slice off a minute if not closer to two off the beginning and have it get right now into business. I'm also wondering is the lacking presence of any hooking effect has to do with a poor EQ job on my behalf. These two things will be a focal point during my next session on this track. I think you could probably make the mix a little better the synth is a little quiet. It didn't stand out as having a bad mixdown but if you think you can improve it go for it getting a good mix is worth spending some time on and getting as perfect as possible. I don't think that would help with the hook though. I think if you just get things going earlier in the song you'll be good as far as a hook. Maybe just reduce the first part to half as many bars and bring in the part that starts at 1:30 in way earlier I think the bit at 1:30 would make a good hook.

I just updated the track with a new revision cutting down the intro drastically as well as applying better EQ to each channel. Let me know your thoughts whenever you can. I seriously appreciate your input, I definitely would not have the revision I currently have without it.
